DON’T COMPROMISE ON COMPASSION

We are always told that we have to compromise, but I for one have never compromised on anything.

This is why I’m single at the moment I guess.

The main definition of COMPROMISE is

‘A settlement of differences by arbitration or by consent reached by mutual concessions.’

And it seems that in order to get anything done in this world you have to compromise, especially when it comes to politics or settling disputes between warring factions, or even the ‘environment’….

‘I’ll support your bill on protecting the rainforest if you support my bill on protecting the rights of loggers to log the rainforest.’

‘I’ll support your bill on protecting the oceans if you support my bill on allowing ocean exploration for minerals.’

For me, compromise means nothing gets done properly as everyone is trying to please everybody.

The definition of Compassion is

‘A sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.’

And given that billions of people are suffering in the world, as is the planet itself, how would compromising on compassion make a true difference?

In my opinion, it wouldn’t.

We must never compromise on compassion.
