What do you think of that?
Surely medical treatment is a human right, whether you pay for it through taxes such as the NHS in the Uk or pay privately, or have health insurance?
But you’re a warlord, a despot, a drug trafficker, a murderer, a soldier, a regime enforcer, a wife batterer, an anti-social delinquent, you’re obese due to your food choices, you kill animals for a living, you create environmental disasters through your companies negligence, you make arms and missiles, you are complicit in the suffering of your fellow humans and the species you share the planet with, you are thoughtless, you are unkind, you take but never give, you cheat, you lie, you use the planets resources to further your own wealth, you care about nothing but yourself and your family, you work for organisations or governments that make peoples lives worse, you work for companies or governments that make the planets health worse….
Ok, so most of you don’t think you’re doing anything wrong, and in fact you would argue that what you’re doing actively benefits humanity, and by contributing to the economy you pay taxes which goes to the government help people.
But we’re not talking about what you do for a living, we are talking about personal good deeds, deeds that if you were a religious person, may be things you do to get into heaven!
The way I see it, 99.9 percent of us ain’t going to heaven!
And maybe that’s the way god wants it, after all where is god going to put all these people? By the way, what size is heaven? And where exactly is its geographical location, and if it is known as the afterlife, doesn’t that mean, given that after you live your life you die, that even if you go to the after life you will still be dead? We digress!
Let’s assume for a moment there is no god (blasphemy!) and definitely no virgins waiting for all these horrible men…
Let’s assume for as moment this is it and you have one go at living on the earth, and there is no reincarnation (sorry buddhists etc)
Let’s assume that giving money to charity, setting up or working for a charity doesn’t count…
What does count as a good deed?
Well, it has to be a selfless act… Not for recognition, and no one may even notice you’ve done it! Doesn’t sound like much fun does it?
I could give examples like helping someone in need, helping a sick animal, making life choices that have a positive effect on the world, caring for someone not because you get paid or receive government benefits, but through compassion. opening up your home as a sanctuary where people can escape violence, renouncing violence, only working for the benefit of all others, stopping anything that can cause suffering directly or indirectly, renouncing possessions, not cheating others, or lying, picking up litter when no one asked you to… etc etc.
So ladies and gentlemen boys and girls, the choice is yours, but remember your life could depend on it and make sure you get your good deed logbook signed as you will not be helped if you are suffering…
You have been warned.
PS. That should solve the health system ‘crisis’. You’re welcome.
