No, it isn’t a blog about Big Macs but it contains one Mac. Me. Alan ‘Mac’Millan Orr and given we are in Scotland now and one of the biggest staple foods seems to be chips, it seems appropriate!
I am now based in Kip Marina, Inverkip, Scotland, PA16 0AW if you ever fancy visiting!
It is hugely exciting times in my life… A fresh start in a new place, in an area I love, and although I will miss Ariana my beloved Swan (make of sailing yacht not an actual swan!) being in Inverkip means I am close to my mum’s birthplace and resting place in Rothesay, Isle of Bute, so I can ask her for advice when I get stuck!
New crew. New boats. SAME project with new additions…with one constant – Hari – our beloved friend to the people, pacifier of the mad, counsellor to the bereaved, comforter to the infirm, intervener in conflicts, joy spreading, smile making, loving, eating, ball of fur…

BLUE CONCEPTS II
the concept of having multiple projects running in paralelo never static, always moving, evolving has been central to the Ariana concept but this time rather than having all the projects and people all working from the same space, I have decided to split it into multiple small sailing boats …
So far there are the following boats
The first is Alysia..
Alysia is a 10 metre 1968 wooden sailing boat weighing 6 tons. She was designed by well known British naval architect Alan Buchanan and is being converted into a micro cargo carrier and galley for food preparation for the island soup company.
Boat two is Malayan Moon, a 1970 long keel sailing boat with 4 berths.. At 27 feet she is tiny! But she is a fully equipped well proven racer / cruiser designed to handle weather despite having very low fretboards. She is the ariana sailing company executive quarters!! And home of the ships dog, Hari …
Boat 3 coming soon will be a new crew project boat for the crew to restore and have somewhere to live permanently not just whilst assisting with the project. I am currently assessing suitable candidates all of whom will have been officially “homeless” for at least a year… Boat 4 will be a broadcast and recording studio all sailing the seas …
more later .. we’re off to catch out train from Grasmere back to Inverkip, We have been investigating the hiking route from the source of the river clyde to the sea and doing it from Hari’s favourite place in the lake district The Inn At Grasmere because each time he goes he is treated like a king and this time (sorry i forgot your name) he was looked after by the crqzy dog lady who gave him a special gold blanket for the stone floor and fed him chicken and sausages!! (if you ever go just tell them Hari the labrador sent you!)
The clyde hike is approximately 110 miles and alan will document it all by video, audio and text, an apt start to the new project don’t you think?
