POWER WALK, DOG WALK, LITTER PICK – INVERKIP TO GOUROCK

hi folks it’s Saturday again and time for a nice long walk .. hari the labrador needs it so do I, accompanied with bags and a litter picker so does the environment!

Rubbish rubbish everywhere

It only took us 3 hours for the 7 miles but I feel refreshed , hari the labrador feels refreshed amd the beaches and paths definitely feel refreshed …

it’s the usual monasterio, Red Bull, vodka can rubbish mixed in with fishing gear , marine industry, building industry rubbish, 99 percent plastic mixed in with crisp packets, water bottles and vapes!

I have been doing litter picking from the boat at inverkip marina to the beach for nearly 2 months now but over the last couple of weeks I have been extending the walk to see what I could pick up !

I must admit that when I started this I was quite positive but I’m now getting angry!

no matter how much I pick up it replenishes itself every day ..

and as I dragged the heavy bags through the rain I questioned why I was doing it!

because I want a better world…

but I realised that people don’t care…

I even moved a load of plastic off the shore onto the newly tarmaced path to see if anyone would pick it up , but they just walked over it!

Somebody else’s problem!

I pay my taxes

I shouldn’t have to pick up rubbish

But it’s all our problems, especially the people who make the products that end up in the sea or on the path..

Everyone is responsible

From the managing director to the factory workers, from the distribution companies to the drivers, from the retailer to their employees to the consumer ..

do you uderstand ?

everyone is responsible in the chain that ended with me intervening by picking up the plastics etc…

and another thing..what happens to the rubbish I have picked up that I put in the bin? Does it get burned ? Recycled? Does anyone care? I paid for my chocolate bar, ate my chocolate bar, and now I don’t care what happens with the wrapper!

it’s time for a shift ladies and gentlemen..right.. now.

then I can go on my walk in peace!
