“…What does it mean to be honourable Mr Casper? Asked Hari.

Well Hari, in this case, it means of high ethics, and it is my belief that Honourable befits the work we are doing replied Casper authoritavely.

But was the East India Company not also known as the Honourable East India Company, and these vile fellows did unmentionable misdeeds towards the Indian people, demanded Hari,

True Hari, very true, but this time we’re going to do it right,

We shall see Mr Casper, we shall see…you english say one thing and do another, and people suffer, and you get richer…

At least we don’t chop the heads of buffalo in the name of an imaginary god my man, retorted Casper.

That is true sir. But is it not honourable to sacrifice an animal for a better life?

Absolutely not Hari, and while we’re on the subject of ethics, I have decided to create a company with the highest ethical standards and I shall name it after our friend Ariana who has inspired both of us, and I shall call it The Honourable Ariana Sailing Company.

Very good sir. I no lend you money for helping this time!

I wouldn’t dream of asking my dear fellow! The last time was an emergency, and I was in the middle of nowhere on a dusty road being forced to eat Dahl Bhat with you with no ATM!

True Sir, but dhal bhat give you power 24 hour!

Well, I for one am glad we are gping back to dear old england, where the food is reassuringly french, the people are reassuringly angry, and the weather is reassuringly bracing.

Too much cold, too much raining, replied Hari, shivering melodramatically, as they stared out through the mizzle (miserable drizzle) as they powered through the Atlantic storms on their way to Portsmouth, home of broken down aircraft carriers, drunken sailors, and the start of some very famous voyages!

Ahh, it’ll be good to be home, said casper

ABOUT ARIANA SAILING COMPANY

Is it a book? Is it a company?

It is both. It is primarily an evolving story created from the adventures of the well known travel writer, Casper James Amos, his trusty sidekick Hari, a one time Kathmandu taxi driver.

Alongside the adventures on the high seas, the author Alan Macmillan Orr, decided to put some of Casper’s ideas into action, to breathe life into them.

Casper believed that he had a duty to his fellow man, and to honour the great Ariana who had inspired such change in him.

Unfortunately Casper was lost overboard, missing, presumed dead, along with Hari, during a heavy storm from the Azores to London in April 2022, and never had the chance to put his thoughts into action.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, not least his wife Asiya and two daughters.

It is in his memory, that Alan decided to form The Honourable Ariana Sailing Company Limited, company registration number SC817593, to create not only a legacy for Casper, but to pursue peaceful prosperity and public service by land and sea.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that prosperity need not come at the expense of other human beings, the other species we share the planet with, and the planet itself.

We believe that we have a responsibility to serve our fellow man, the other species we share the planet with, and the planet itself.

We believe in creating trading opportunities where we can create a supply chain which respects humans, other species and the marine and land environment equally. No one is above the other.

We believe in helping others evolve personally, and as such train people who have been overlooked by society, people who have been labelled as being alcoholics, homeless, drug addicts, mentally ill, antisocial, behavioural problems!

What most people forget is these are people not problems to be solved, or swept under the carpet. These are human beings who for one reason or other have ended up with serious troubles in their mind and life, and are possibly causing problems for others in society, even other family members.

We believe we can assist people by giving them a peaceful purpose, and a peaceful sanctuary at sea within which to evolve past their troubles.

We believe that humans are not the masters of the universe, and have no right to control, or enslave people and animals, nor dredge the seas looking for resources and food, hence our ethics mandate a cruelty free state of mind / lifestyle as the building blocks for future evolution. We understand this may cause some people difficulty in supporting us, but be assured that we do not align ourselves with any group, and choose to stand alone.

We believe that offering people locally grown, organic, tasty ingredients and food products that have a fully traceable supply chain, and perhaps come at zero cost to the public may ultimately change the farmer/grower/ distributor/ supermarket monopoly where food is shipped or flown thousands of miles, from, countries whose ethics towards the people may be questionable, and whose environmental credentials may be even more questionable.

We believe that we need to re-evaluate our relationship with food given the global pandemic that is obesity, driven by profit driven corporations, advertising, and governments who want to appease the corporations as they need the tax to maintain a health system to look after people suffering from obesity, and keep people employed lest they become a burden.

We believe in the power of humanity, that each individual has the power to evolve and to inspire others.

We believe in you, and we want to empower you.

Quite a tall order, given the mess, and violence that man has created without thinking about the consequences of his actions.

ABOUT THE CREATOR OF ARIANA SAILING COMPANY

Can one man change the world for the better? Alan believes it is possible. He went from a man who cared for nothing but himself and his own desires, to a man who cared about everything, and wanted to help everyone. What caused this change was the influence of one girl, who sparked a light within him. It is through this awakening that he wants to honour her by being the best human he can be and embarking on a painful journey to create a human dedicated to a life of compassion for others only undertaking work that is in the service of others.

Over the last twenty years alan has been trying to find a way to spark an internal revolution in people, challenging their thoughts, beliefs, and actions, in order to develop new thinking processes, that were compassionate in nature, but has hit brick walls, ridicule, and animosity at every turn, from family who think he should just get a job, to friends who just laugh at him, to even buddhists who asked him to leave their monastery as he was causing trouble by trying (as head chef) to force them to go vegan!

Alan’s kindness has been abused many a time by people who thought he was weak and could be exploited financially leaving him penniless and homeless on one occasion. But through humour and a great deal of resilience, developed on difficult physical and psychological challenges, alan has kept his calm and now turns his attention to the final stage of his project, to bring the philosophy to life, in a manner that people understand and can engage with (hopefully), based on the travel diaries of Casper Amos, and his inspiration, Ariana.

WHY IS IT CALLED THE HONOURABLE ARIANA SAILING COMPANY?

In the 1600’s a group of merchants formed the honourable east india company which it turned out was less than honourable! The east india company’s legacy is one of greed, manipulation and murder, and it is in the spirit of wishing to reset those intentions and actions and seek atonement of past misdeeds that this company was formed, to create a company which peacefully benefits all who are involved with it, including the other species who have made the ultimate sacrifice in our pursuit of profit and pleasure.

WHAT WE DO

Alan believes we are missing the essence of being human, that we are all connected, that one thought and action can have far ranging consequences, and that our choices are mainly dictated by parental and cultural conditioning, not free will, and hence people are mainly concerned with themselves, their family, their country, and people who think like them, believe in the same god, and look the same as them.

Alan believes this to be a detriment to personal human evolution and as such the ariana sailing company was set up to break down barriers, psychological and physical, and prove that we are not the violent, greedy, self interested species that is in the news every day.

We believe that by sharing knowledge, and food, listening, and creating dialogue, where people realise that being an expert in marketing, social media, warfare, banking, politics, or manufacturing has no place in a highly evolved society, nor does being a drug kingpin, a mobster, a gang member, a thief, fraudster, or someone who thinks other people should pay for them, because they are ‘poor’.

Ariana Sailing Company is a revolutionary concept. Even governments despise it, as it makes them obsolete, and shows them for what they are, people who want other people to pay for their existence so they can make laws to tell the people who pay for their existence how to live.

An impossible task? A pointless exercise? A waste of time? That just reaffirms my belief that I’m on the right track! And if you think we’re doing too many things, on the surface you’d be right. But alan’s belief in the interconnectedness of mind, task, environment, means we would be failing everybody if we only looked at life from one angle. Looking at every angle is the only way we will be able to forge a new prosperous, peaceful, evolved way forward as a species, where we work together for the betterment of our species, not our individual desires for a bigger house, or car, or more wealth for our nation, or more status, territory or prestige…

WHY SAILING?

Alan believes that sailing is the most complete human experience, where one can learn about themselves, the ocean, the planet, and the stars, not to mention developing resilience in difficult situations, meteorology, emergency planning, provisioning of foodstuffs without recourse to refrigeration, energy management of systems, carpentry, mechanics, electronics, sail choice for speed and comfort, not to mention people management (skills easily transferable to the land), and astral navigation, to name bur a few! but don’t take Alan’s word for it… get in touch and find out why.
