hi i’m alan and i’m the creator of the ariana project..

Since I was young, I have loved adventure, the joy of exploring, seeing and experiencing new places, meeting new people, learning new skills, creating new music, creating and tasting new food, exploring the human body, and mind…
I had a peaceful childhood until my father abandoned my mother and I, and I spent years looking after my mum who couldn’t adapt or ‘move on’, right up to her death from Alzheimer’s and cancer in 2018.
I tried to fit in to what was expected of me in the society, but deep down, knew that this was not me.
Since 1999, I have been on a continuous journey of exploration and learning, about myself, everyone else, and as many things as one small brain could take in!
The Ariana Project is the culmination of 20 years of work, research, failed projects, people stealing from me, disappointments, helping people, looking after a mother with dementia, thousands of miles of walking and sailing, social experiments, relationships, laughter, and anger, unhappiness, social business startups, not for profits creation, root cause analysis, supply chain analysis, creating models of new ways of thinking, a lot of frustration, sex, a lot of love, and of course all helped along with a huge music collection to soundtrack each moment to.
I just hope I am the man to lead this project, and if I’m not, I’ll happily hand the reigns over to someone more qualified.
But until that happens, I am the captain of this ship, the good ship Ariana, and may all who join her experience great things in their lives.
I look forward to meeting you.
Alan
Human(ish)
Ps none of what I have written here tells you who I really am. And maybe I don’t know either.
I can tell you that I have suffered from anxiety, panic attacks and intrusive thoughts since I was a teenager, that I have tried and failed to give up smoking for years, that in the past I tried drugs, that I was cruel to girlfriends and abandoned my wife, that I am a traditional thai massage therapist, vegan chef, IT specialist, troubleshooter, project manager, long distance walker, DJ, electronic music creator, micro farmer, cleaner, ethics consultant, pilgrim, educator, supply chain analyst, writer of philosophical comedy…
I could also tell you that I am frustrated, angry, and lonely, that I have had dozens of relationships, a hundred one night stands, am an offshore sailor, advisor to the displaced, carer to the afflicted…
but you don’t know me any more than I know myself..
I am a funny guy and a serious guy…
I love sex, but want to be free of it…
I hate money and possessions and at the same time covet them…
I want to stand alone and be free, but deep down I crave companionship and love…
Should you listen to me ? Absolutely not. Should you listen to yourself? Absolutely!
And if anything resonates with you here remember to listen to the message, not the messenger.
The problem with most people is that they pretend to be something they’re not. I believe that it’s important to show every side of one’s self, in public, to not hide…
We all hide behind a suit. behind a façade, behind a religion, morals, a job, a political party, and pretend we are better than the ‘animals’, but we’re not.
It’s time for us to be more honest about who we really are.
I invite everyone to share more about themselves rather than the persona that they want everyone to believe is the whole of them.
It is time to let go of the pretence.
Alan
